Woke up to pick up car and it’s in another city
2
Booked a vehicle from Venice LA owned by a person named "David." It was one of 4 or 5 vehicles within 2 miles owned by the same person. Woke up to an app pop up saying something like 'note that you haven't completed this transaction' when I most certainly had the night before - using Apple Pay. Getaround offers to book another car, but that functionality leads to a dead end. I attempt to book another car (owned by 'David') and AFTER booking it, the app reveals that location was last updated 42 days ago. Then it jumps to a place in Nevada. I cancel that booking and book another. Once booked, the app reveals locational details: last updated 72 days ago. Then it appears in Arizona. Had to specifically find a car further away that was owned by another person, and that transaction went as it should. Overall, after booking several cars over a 2-week period, I found some to have been left quite dirty. I also discovered that "extending" the rental carries a serious additional cost. I also found that if you return the car with more gas, of course nothing is said. But if you return the car with one less bar, perhaps 1/16th of tank on an economy car, the fuel charge by Getaround was $37.50. I find this service to be unreliable, the cars to be grubby and long of tooth, and the business model flush with fees. ads to a dead enddoe User's recommendation: Getaround is a game of chance.
