We will be changing our insurance ASAP. Don't waste your money on this insurance - note that this is NOT their discount plan. This is insurance. There isn't a quality dentist on this plan. Despite 818 general dentists within 10 miles of my zip... that isn't a real number from a patient perspective. Unless you as a patient care where solstice sends checks to dental conglomerates instead of finding the actual building to meet the dentist in. My experience so far finding a dentist on this *** site is this: Goto site. search - general dentist, smile211 plan, 10 miles of 33604 = 818 found. Most have fewer than 10 reviews. Of those with more than 10 reviews, that average 4 or better, 10 of them are 20+ miles away including just shy of Jacksonville at 180 miles, aren't general dentists, or don't take the insurance at all. Recheck that I have my above settings correct and rerun the search to make sure I didn't miss anything with them... nope. Any random record that comes up is more likely incorrect than correct assuming they have reviews and are halfways decent. Left messages for all of the remaining. One week later I have 1 returned call (she is one that doesn't actually take the insurance at all) Part of this is that all 23 dentists that are part of Great Expressions Dental Centers in Florida are listed as within 10 miles of me and their tool (AND their phone help line) are unable to distinguish where they actually are so you call the number listed only to find out that the dentist with the good rating doesn't work in that office, they don't know what office, they haven't heard of them and they aren't interested in helping you. We subscribers aren't the primary users of the "find a dentist" ... the dentist sends the claim to the Solstice and Solstice puts their billing address into the system and doesn't care about physical address for the "find a dentist" tool or even for their "not very helpful" desk - not that the poor folks on the phone get a vote, please remember that if you are annoyed and have to call. It dang well isn't the people barely getting minimum wage making this crap system. Don't bother with the blue "let us help you" button on that screen. It says to call and they will help. They just send the exact same info with all the incorrect crap that is already in front of your face. I don't know why the button is even there other than to make it look like they are helpful. What's the possible use case here? I have this info in my browser in front of my nose but dang, it sure would be nice if I sat on hold for 30 minutes so that someone can read it to me and not be able to answer any questions that aren't already displayed on the screen? Will update numbers if I ever find one or if I just give up. Don't waste your money on this insurance - note that this is NOT their discount plan. This is insurance. Plenty of dentists have their own discount plans/insurance in Tampa and some have shared plans with oral surgeons. The reason that this is a waste is because the major value that we get from an insurance provider over one of these micro-plans with a dentist is a greater selection. Solstice doesn't actually have a greater selection. They have wildly misleading numbers either deliberately or because of massive incompetence or care in terms of what matters to a patient. Even after managing to ID people that might be physically near me the options are limited to *** dentists. It's to the point where I am looking at good dentists in Tampa and then checking to see if they take this insurance... so far they do not. I wonder why that is. Oh yeah... see above.
