Moved into a home with two high-end 20i and16i trane heat pumps only 7 years old. No worries right? WRONG! Within 9 months both units had issues and were diagnosed with leaking copper coils that needed to be replaced. After contacting trane, they would not honor the product warranty because the warranty must be re- registered to the new homeowner and wasnt. How is anyone supposed to know this absurd trane requirement? It is nothing more than a method the company uses to limit product liability! User's recommendation: Don’t purchase trane products! They found the copper coils leak and shifted to aluminum coils an instead of properly handling warranties of known issues they left their customers with big $5k+ bills!! Suggest you purchase hvac units with the best warranties that are based on the installation address not the customer’s name.
