After several backwards and forwards e-mail exchanges, including sending Gerber files and a few pjhone calls, USTEK confirmed that they can do the job. We then placed an order with them for the manufacture 6 x prototypes of our RETRIEVOR GPS tracking device on April 24th 2015. This was on a 7 week delivery shedule as quoted by USTEK. (USTEK quote different pricing based on delivery time) However, after the 7 weeks were long past, they came back with numerous excuses and 'stories' and the 6 prototypes were eventually delivered 20 weeks after placing the original Purchase Order - a full 13 weeks late. Of the 6 prototypes only 2 functioned correctly. Strange considering the fact that all 6 prototypes were the same so obviously there were assembly issues. During this entire process they failed to even contact me for 10 of the 20 weeks and our only contact with them was when I reached out to find out what was going on and why no contact from them. All we got was an apology but no reason as to why they had just left us in the dark all that time. Seems like USTEK 'bit off more than they could chew" and instead of admitting they were incapable of completing the job they dragged it along without communicating at all for a full 10 weeks. But, they were quick to send an invoice for $3,000 requesting payment. Prior to dealing with USDTEK we had 5 prototypes manufactured in China at a 5 week delivery, a cost of $1,150 and all 5 functioned perfectly. Due to slight design changes (we swapped out the GPS module) we decided to use the local American company USTEK as believed this would give us some marketing mileage with the "Made in America" Whay a colossal mistake that was. In my 30+ years within business and dealing with all kinds of vendors and suppliers. I have never, ever experienced such shocking treatment, poor customer service and downright shoddy workmanship and will never recommend USTEK's services to anyone. Caveat Empor!
