Unsatisfactory customer service calling in main line

Received a letter thanking me for continuing to be a good customer for several years(30 to be exact) with a $15.00 credit to be applied to my account over next 3 months. You were provided a code and instructions to have this offer applied to your account which I did and had a confirmation it had been applied so I shredded the letter when completed . Received my bill and it was not credited so I called customer service which was a complete waste of my time. The young lady wanted to argue that I had to call in and speak with them in order to receive the credit but I was positive the instructions provided were different. I was very disappointed that after all the years I have stayed with local cable and paid high cable fees on time every month that she could not have simply apologized and offered to fix my account. Most companies have something in place with CS to correct their error for clients. She wanted me to continue to look for a letter which I repeatedly told her was shredded and call her back. To say the least I am very disappointed with this level of service and am seriously considering going the way of my neighbors and moving to a different carrier in the near future!! As an additional thought why would Shentel not automatically apply the monthly credit to accounts as a reward and notify clients it had been applied.
