As we prepare our home for sale, we had Stanley Steemer come to our home to clean the tiles and grout in the kitchen, mudroom and master bathroom. We also hired them to clean two shower stalls and the basement carpet/stairs. Although promised on the phone, the grout did not come out clean at all. There was still soap *** on the shower stalls and shower doors, and stains were not removed from the basement carpet. We refused to pay the young man who did the work. He called his supervisor who said that we had to pay the $520 or they would not honor coming back to redo the job and that they would take us to court. We reluctantly paid the invoice and two technicians arrived a few days later to look at the job. The original tech had not paid attention to details and the job obviously required more work. However, we had to convince the new technicians of this as they clearly didn't want to throw their colleague under the bus. We asked them to use a scrub brush to remove the stains. It's really the only way that the grout would look clean. They explained that they do not do that because grout is porous and they offered to paint and seal the grout... of course, they did... for an additional charge! After they left, we got on our hands and knees and scraped the grout to make it look clean. We should not have had to do that! They also indicated that they do not use spot cleaner on rug stains. So basically, they just wet your carpet and floors and vacuum it. There wasn't the fresh smell that I expected after they left. Again, we had to use a spot cleaner to get the stain out of the carpet and it came right out. We just don't understand what it is that Stanley Steemer does. Their commercials and salespeople are totally misleading. Save your money and find a reputable cleaning company. User's recommendation: Do NOT Hire Stanley Steemer.
