Unfair Boarding Practices and Failure to Communicate with clients

We had a great experience in the beginning when taking our dog for boarding at this facility, however, this past time we were very disatisfied with the service we received. I will explain why. When we travel we have used this facility because our dog has a unique situation. She isn't able to have a rabies shot due to the fact she is allergic, and the last one almost killed her. This kennel/ vet office has always offered us the VIP suite for our dog which consists of private room, bed and her own area in which to rest. We have payed an additional 23.00 a day for this service. Our dog also has allergies to the grass, and she has always been taken out and then had to apply salve to her tummy for the allergy. They have known this, and in the past this has been no problem for them to take care of. We have supplied the salve for this as well. We dropped her off at hey the kennel as usual on the 20th of Sept and was to pick her up on the 23rd of Sept. Somehow our dog got hurt (which no one seemed to know how) and they were "concerned" she could have a problem with her retina, and the morning we were to pick her up on the 23rd they "discovered" she had been hurt and proceeded to do some extensive tests knowing we were on our way in an hour to pick her up they never called us to tell us that they were doing any of these tests, and they proceeded to supposobly do all these things to the total cost of 132.50. ( I might add we have a cell phone available 24 hours a day and they never bothered to call us to let us know what had happened, and whether we wanted to take her to our personal vet office the doc knew we were back in town, and would pick our dog up by 11 am the morning she was supposobly found hurt) In our opinion we were royally ripped off by Dr. Costance Pozniak. When my husband arrived there to pick up the dog they informed him of this "mishap" and informed him there would be the additional charge of 132.50. We went the next day and talked with the vet in person about the matter, and she said that she didn't know how our dog was hurt. She also claimed she didn't know why the salve wasn't put on our dog. She wanted to know how she could make this right for us, and we informed her we thought she should consider everything that happened, and she could make a decision about what would be a fair compensation to us for all this. We waited about 5 days, and she sent us a check for 24.00 the difference of what the private room cost for 2 days. We were truly insulted by this refund, and feel that this vet found a chance to make some money on us, and took full advantage of the situation. We have learned a lesson. Make sure that the place you put your animal is covered by insurance, so that is your animal is hurt on their property it is covered. We feel that we were unjustly charged, and we will no longer use their services. Just wanted to let other people know of our problem so they have heads up on Blvd Vet Hospital in Norfolk Va.
