Not very friendly canpus. Feels institutional. At the CC a belligerent guard asks for your UDC id card. At the Flagship the campus feels like it is dying rather than vibrant. A bad sign is the poor salary for adjunct professors. The library computers have autotext trojans. The library staff also not friendly. As an alumni i have an easier time visiting other campuses. An HBCU should not be defined by appearance but instead as place for incubation of ideas outside the box. The campus has caved into neoliberal conformity but that has not garnered it much more than less tolerance for innovation, entrepreneurship, and honoring the protest traditions that served as the wellsprings for freedom. Hard to locate staff who might be receptive to your ideas, whether a presentation or exhibit. As an alumni it would be nice to have unfettered access to library and career services even for a small fee. Staff will not return email if you are not either a student or distinguished personage. As a rule they do not support liberal grassroots NGOs unless they are identifiable grasstops. Its not very soulful.
