I wanted to offer my personal experience with Easyhome over the past month. I hope that this experience will steer people away from this company and their staff. I do want to stress that this is a CORPORATE store. The reason I am stressing this is because franchise stores might be better. About a month ago I went into the Welland Avenue location in St Catharines Ontario. Due to my inability to make decisions on furniture, I wanted to rent something that would work for us until the new year and I could focus on what I want in my living room. The idea was I would rent a living room set and if I liked it I would just buy it out and if I didn't I would get what I wanted and return the set. The majority of my issues came from Crystal. She was inconsistent in contacting me back - she always "lost" my phone number or a manager threw it out or any number of excuses. It got to the point that on last sunday, I went into the location because they were open and low and behold, there was Crystal. After 25 minutes in the store, with her inability to fill out my application on the computer, copying my drivers license 3 times because she "couldn't get the colour right" and having my information disappear on the screen over and over, I said I would come back another day. I politely made conversation as I was leaving under the context of "I am going home to relax, have a good night" - where she proceeded to tell me she has 3 kids, 14, 9, 4 and she drinks in her bathroom getting ready to go to the club on saturday night and was upset she couldn't do it the night before because she was "forced" to work. She told me that her ex wanted custody in Nova Scotia and she doesn't want him to find out about her drinking fun. She ended up telling me more about her life but that should give you an idea of what I had to listen to just to get out of the store. After leaving, I decided on Monday I would call the head office and file my complaint - WOW what an ordeal that was... Finally speaking to the Regional VP for District 1, she told me that Kevin would help me in the store. Which he did and I must say he was nothing but professional, respectful, honest, and a great guy to deal with. However, he kept getting pushed around looking for answers on various questions I was expressing. It is now 7pm, and Easyhome is asking for my COMPANY financial statements (cause I am self employed) - they are asking for 5 total references because I gave them non-local references (which I am ok with) - and, on top of it all, they were not even willing to offer a customer service discount on the first payment just to show me they cared. This company seems to be filled with personal drama and people who do not know their job description (except Kevin, whom again... is AMAZING but was limited in authority). If you have ANY other options where you live to rent/lease what you need - I would suggest entertaining it - because this company is only in the business of collecting information illegally. Which brings me to my last point - they asked for my SIN number, which by CANADIAN LAW they cannot demand - but did... I finally had to remind them the law states they can't which made them back down - but it was extremely uncomfortable. I hope that this post saves at least 1 person from the hell Easyhome causes. If they delete this post, I will just post it again on other sites and venues. I am also sending it over to the BBB for both Niagara and Mississauga.
