Truck that never appeared
2
I had a 12 foot truck reservation confirmed for July 24, 11:30am in a dispatch location in Carbondale. When I arrived, the staff at the office said that my truck was not available and I only received a call 20 minutes before my collection time, attempting to inform me that the truck was not available. I called the main office and I was told that they had many truck reservations and repairs, hence they could not get the truck to Carbondale for my already confirmed reservation. I had to move out the next morning, July 25th and I had to have a truck on 24th so that I could pack and clean out my apartment. The customer service representative mentioned that there will be a truck available in Missouri, about 2 hours away from where I was on July 25th, 9am. That was never going to work for me as I would not have sufficient time to pack and sort out my belongings. The representative said that there was no other option and nothing they can do for me. I needed a solution as my lease was due July 25th and I had to move no matter what. My partner and I were struggling to find an alternative but it was a Saturday and nothing was available in such a short notice. We were left stranded and it was a terrible situation for us. Fortunately, U-Haul in Paducah had a 26 foot truck available and my partner and I had to take a 3 hour to and fro trip to Paducah to collect the truck and drive a vehicle way larger than we intended to. We had to pay more for a larger truck as well as gas for the truck. We had lost almost a total of 7 hours to sort out this situation and had little to no time to clear out our apartment. As unexpected as this can be, I should not be receiving the notice that truck reservation is not available on the day of the collection. This should not have happened as I had a confirmation through text, email and phone call. They offered little to no help when we were struggling to find an option to move.
