Take It Back

My wife and daughter were kind enough to buy this griddle for me on Father's Day. I was so excited as I have looking at them for a while now. However it seems that we have made a poor choice. This item assembled very easily and it was ready to be seasoned in no time. I put on a new Blue Rhino tank and turned it on. Start up was quick and easy. I let it run on high for an hour. Then I noticed that the right side turned darker (as it should) but the oil on the left side remained unchanged. So I reset the regulator on the tank and the trouble shoot guide told me. Same result. I let this run for another 1/2 hour and checked. Same result. I have a laser temp checker and recorded a high temp of 265 degrees on the left side and a high temp of 495 degrees on the right. Right side is acceptable, left side is not. It is nothing more than a warming tray. I have well enough for years to be able to regulate my own temps. Would you buy a gas grill and have only be able to actually cook on one side?So I called the Blue Rhino customer service and the gentleman explained that this griddle is designed that way. So if you want to cook a lot of burgers or anything you HAVE to rotate. Also if you want to grill a steak and your onions, peppers etc. then you have to wait. So my question for him was, "So why have an adjustment *** at all? You only turn it on and off. He said yes that's how it works. He was very polite but when I said this is not acceptable, and that I should be the one to regulate the heat all over the griddle his response was "oh well, have a nice day" SO I'M TAKING THIS BACK and going to get a Blackstone. User's recommendation: Do not buy. You have no control of the left side.
