Northside Home Hardware in Fredericton New Brunswick I frequently like stopping in at home Hardware to buy and order material for jobsites but today was a little strange. I am always happily greeted and helped by the staff but today was a little different. I needed 4 foam ends which I always buy them here and the guy at the customer service desk said he doesn't have any. I told him thats okay but then he said they do have them but he doesn't have access to them. I asked him why and he said "I just don't have the key to get them." From here I thought it got a little strange so I decided to ask him why I can't buy them if they are in the store and he said the manager won't let him sell the foam on Sundays because the project desk isn't open. I told him that I don't need the project desk or slip and that If I could get four I'll just ring them through at front cash. The guy then said he won't get them, and I told him I was confused. The guy walked away and I asked him again why I can't buy them and he turned around and told me that I need to leave the store and come back tomorrow when someone has a key. I told him I need to pick up a few other things first, but then I asked him "why did you just tell me to leave the store?". He then grabbed my arm and I told him to let go. He let go and he said "I'm sorry, its just you weren't leaving but you can stay if you need to buy more items.". I was so confused at this point I then asked the girl standing next to him if she knows what is happening and the guy told her not to say anything. The guy then said he is text messaging his manager to ask. I thanked him and waited. I really tried from here not to talk to the guy because he seemed to be having a bad day. He then showed me his phone screen and told me to read it. I asked him why and what is it I am looking at. He said well my boss said I can't sell you the foam so you have to leave now and come back tomorrow. I told the guy that this is very ridiculous and I've never had this happen before and I'd like him to call the manager or store owner. The guy said "I don't need to he will tell you the same thing I'm telling you now.". I asked the guy if I can please speak to a manager or a store owner about this as I feel this is very unprofessional. The guy said "I don't need to call anybody you can come back tomorrow and talk to them.". I left my name and number at the cashier desk and asked that they pass it directly to the store owner and I then left the store. I still had no idea why that guy was so aggressive and intermittently told me to leave the store and come back tomorrow. I really have no idea why he grabbed my arm but I feel this is something that Home Hardware really needs to look at. My concern is if this guy does this with other customers that Home Hardware might not be open for long and I would really miss buying my materials here. The guy could have just been having a bad day but I strongly feel that he needs to have a conversation about how he might address a customer in the future. Is it possible to know what he was talking about when he said he doesnt have a key and I should come back tomorrow to buy them? Isaac [protected]@gmail.com
