Rude/Racially profiled in one of your stores
Dear Sir / Madam, I am writing to you to raise an issue about: In-store shopping The issue that I have experienced was: Paid for items at the self checkout till. On my way out I was called back by one of your colleagues asking if I had paid for items and which till I had used. I told him that I had and he asked for my receipt. Asked him why I was the only one being stopped, but he didn't give me a answer. He just demanded for my receipt. Told him I didn't have it asi had left it on the till( only had milk and cookies and bday card, didn't see need for keeping receipt. Wasn't planning on returning of the items). I believe I was racially profiled. Not even playing the race card, it's just that noone else was been stopped. Anyways he demanded if I had a club card, which he demanded I hand over for him to check that I had paid for the items. Didn't feel safe handing over my personal card with covid and that but to avoid embarrassment as people were staring at us, I handed it over. He dud something at the till, it didn't work, came back to me asking if that's the correct card I had used, told him yes... He finally managed to find the transaction and reprinted out my receipt. He handed over my receipt and club card and didn't even apologise for his actions. Should have taken his name but I was too embarrassed to stay in store and fuming to think properly. He is short in his late 40s/early 50s. It occurred on: 2021-03-26 This meant that Very very embarrassed in front of all the other customers. Fuming at being racially profiled. With all that's going on now, he should have checked his systems properly before embarrassing me like this. I don't need to walk in tescos and feel like I have to proof to anyone that I am. Not a thief. Being black doesn't make me a criminal. Something has to be done. He can't get away with this. How many are people is he doing it too??? An apology will be nice for starters. The colleague needs training on how to approach and deal with customers. I look forward to your prompt response on this matter. As recommended by Trading Standards, I would like to keep a complete record of my case, so please reply to this email address. Store location Sevenoaks River head Rude/Racist Complaint
