Restocking fee charge not listed on receipt

I bought a vacuume cleaner on 3/29/11 that turned out to be defective. On 4/4/11 i came back to the store to return the product seeking a refund. The manager said that the store policy is they don't give refunds, however they'll give me a store credit. On return of the credit memo he said he has to charge a 10% restocking fee because it costs him to send the product back to the original company. This is ridiculous. So instead of getting back a full store credit for an item which was defective from the get go, i had to pay a fee to give it back. The original receipt says absolutly nothing about restocking fee's. When i told the manager about that he didn't even look at me twice and just said "that's the store policy". Because i can't scan the receipt i'll just write what's actualy written.... "No cash Refunds/Exchange or store credit only, must be new and in original packaging the way it was must accompany receipt no returns will be accepted without receipt. Absolutley no returns on PDA's Panasonic, or Sony products, camcorders/Digital cameras, major appliances, air conditions. These products have a MFG. Warranty. Absolutly no returns after 30 days"
