I had a buyer agent but I was also searching in her recommended area. I found a property listed on Remax website and sent a request. This request was intercepted by Marie DeCicco, a Remax agent other than the listing one. DeCicco responded to my viewing request and set up an appointment, without disclosing her intention to become my buyer agent. After the viewing, she still didn't disclose her intention until I asked her. I then called her broker, who told me not to worry and just ignore DeCicco. I went ahead and closed the deal using my buyer agent. Two months after closing, DeCicco, with support from her broker, filed a complaint and threatened lawsuit to my agent, who didn't want to take the risk and gave them part of the commission.
