Refuse to process a refund

Please note that Anantara Peace Heaven resort in Sri Lanka refused to process a refund I booked from 13 May to 18 May 2021 .. Unfortunately the flight from United Arab Emirates has been cancelled due to the current situation COVID 19 I won't be able to travel because the flight has been cancelled.. I contacted the resort to request for a refund and they offer a 12 to 18 months credit This is not acceptable and unprofessional from their side as this is not in our hand and I'm not sure if I can make it again to Sri Lanka at this period of time
