Recipe disaster

I made the "Memories of Chocolate" recipe on page 130 of the March 2020 issue of Southern Living and I have to tell you, there must have been some mistake in it, it was swimming in butter which never was taken up on baking, the so called "batter" was to be poured over the butter but it was not pourable, had to be spooned, baking did not set the batter as the butter was still swimming around the edges. This was a total waste of pricey ingredients and I am furious. Are these recipes not tested prior to printing????? User's recommendation: watch out for the resipes.
