Random Approval Criteria

1

Was approved for a $1,250 Bread Loan at Wink Beds 2/2017. Paid the loan off one month early. Was approved for a $2,000 Bread Loan at 1Stop Bedrooms 3/2018. 4/2018, the merchant informed me my items were discontinued. Placed a second order with same merchant and loan was denied. Some context: Reason given for decline: Past or present adverse activity on my Transunion Credit report. 2/2017 Transunion score was 561 with 96% on-time payment rate; was still approved. 3/2018 Transunion score was 614 with 98% on-time payment rate: was still approved. 4/2018 Transunion score is 621 with 98% on-time payment rate: was declined. I spoke with a customer service agent who did not take the time to review my file to see I have been approved for the $2,000. She began spouting scripted replies stating something adverse must have been added to my credit since my last approval 2/2017. I informed her Bread Loan had just approved my for a higher limit in 3/2018 and she seemed confused. She then placed me on hold to review my account. Several minutes later . . . she found it but continued to tell me something negative must have happened and I should have Transunion contact them to verify the information was incorrect . . . First . . . I relayed the context above . . . continued to tell me something adverse must have been added. I told her Bread Loan's denial letter gave me the most recent score. It is not possible for my score to INCREASE if adverse info were added! Second . . . I noted they do not report to the credit bureaus, I have established a positive relationship with Bread; but, they are denying me credit under the aforementioned circumstances with no viable explanation. Third . . . I asked for manual reconsideration. They stated they are not capable; everything is automated and they have NO WAY of reversing decision. Was told to try again in about 60 days. IMPORTANT MENTION: When I called them out on the "have Transunion contact us to verify you report is incorrect" the "MANAGER" stated that was incorrect information and he would address to ensure customers are not told this in the future. It appears Bread Loan was conducting mass approvals in the beginning as they are new kids on the block. Now that they have lured people into their client base with subsequent initial positive feedback; they are now turning their backs on those people. I specifically recall them selling themselves as a loan provider for people having trouble securing standard financing and would report to the credit bureaus. There is a significant lack of accountability and information customers are entitled receive. From a high-level perspective, this is bait and switch. Your welcome Bread Loan for all of the positive exposure during your launch into the finance industry. I guess we are no longer needed. You should remember this, the behinds you kick on the way up are the same ones you will have to kiss on the way down.
