RAM Hemi 5.7 Catastrophic Engine failure at only 68,000 miles.

2

I own a 2014 RAM 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I baby this truck and it has only 68,000 miles. A couple weeks ago, a valve spring for cylinder #3 broke. I guess this is not uncommon for this engine. However, this time the valve itself disconnected from the broken spring and fell into the cylinder (i.e. "valve drop"). A repair shop installed a new engine and associated new parts per FCA recommendations. Very expensive!! At only 68000 miles, you'd think RAM would help cover some of the cost. They won't. User's recommendation: If you must by a RAM, consider getting an extended warranty.
