Poor support mechanism for students during pandemic
1
I would like to address the issue of poor support for my daughter during the final year of her university education at Cardiff Met. Considering the current global crisis and the level of stress that she experienced during this year, the University provided very little support during this time. She was practically left on her own to complete assignments, meet deadlines and complete a dissertation with very little guidance or formal tutorials. The dissertation supervisor to whom she was assigned, did not respond to her queries in a timely manner, leaving her to do research and complete her final and crucial piece of work doubtful and hesitant as to if she was on the right path or not. I believe that the University should have been a lot more pro-active in providing structured academic, emotional/ psychological support during this time, bearing in mind that these students were isolated from their usual support groups; their lecturers and peers. Also additional support should have been provided. My daughter feels disillusioned and disappointed, and unfortunately has ended her university experience with much regret and disdain.
