I filed a complaint with the BBB and at the end of August (I've forgotten to update my experience here) I received a certified letter which was pretty much useless. What they had done and if they had just told me this, there would have been no reason to file a complaint with the BBB, was take the amount that had been for the closed account and placed it on my open account. As I said, if they had just told me this instead of hanging up on me I would have been fine. How difficult would it have been to say something like: "Oh I see what happened. We just transferred the amount meant for the closed account and put it on your existing account." ? That was all I had wanted to know. Original review posted by user Aug 17, 2018 I had two past due accounts with this company. I had both accounts on a repayment plan with a credit counseling company. One account had $15 and I paid it off myself. I thought I had informed the credit counseling service that I had paid the account off but on the 27th of July, they sent a payment to this closed account. Today, (8/17) I called the credit counseling service because I had received an email regarding the closed account. I spoke to them and they told me the check they had sent was cashed yesterday and suggested I talk to Speedy Cash itself. This I just finished doing. I spoke to Customer Service who in turn forwarded me to their "Collections" department who in turn told me that "This is an attempt to collect a debt" then hung up. Stellar customer service right there. Perhaps I shouldn't have told them I wanted to get the money back from the closed account. They had no business cashing the check if the account was closed. How could they cash something for an account if it was paid off in the previous month? Needless to say, I am not happy at all.
