ORANGE (Everything Everywhere)

Update by user Nov 18, 2012 COPY OF E_MAIL SENT TONIGHT Dear Douglas @ Orange, Following my SDAR and your companies pitiful attempts to deceive me and deliberately mislead me (by insisting I provide proof of ID and fill out one of your ridiculous forms) concerning your legal obligation around the Data Protection Act, for which I will be forwarding all correspondence onto the Data Commissionaire, I asked you to confirm in the e-mail below exactly what you will, or by now should have sent me following my request. Surprise Surprise – no response!!!! Surely as you are clearly in breach of the act, with proof, provided by your own incompetent staff, it would be ridiculous for you to carry on your pathetic façade of self righteousness and at least acknowledge your inappropriate behaviour, and at least respond to my request in a timely manner. Should you have any vacancies in your department as it is quite clear you don’t know what you’re doing, I would be happy to discuss consultancy work with you, provided you will now adhere to your legal obligations, which I somehow doubt!!!!! You have been the most appalling company I have had the displeasure of ever dealing with and I will never sign an Orange Contract again as it is clear you feel that your customers are not worthy of respectful treatment and your customers are incapable of standing up for themselves – on this occasion – BIG BIG mistake on your part!!!!! Should someone with the authority and managerial competence wish to discuss your shameful short comings (although to date no one has had the nerve to even ring) and procedures which are clearly in breach of the Act, I am sure you will find my rates quite reasonable!!!! I have also copied in your ‘Executive Office’ who have to date been as ineffectual and as incompetent as your customer services and compliance departments. M To: 'Compliance, Uk' Subject: RE: Enquiry in relation to Subject Access under the Data Protection Act 1998 ("DPA") Could you please confirm that you are in receipt of all the data I require:- I now therefore wish under the data protection act to request all data held by yourselves concerning me and my account, I therefore submit a formal request under section 7(1) of the Data Protection Act 1998, for all correspondence and all information you hold including any expression of opinion about me and any indication of anybody’s intentions in respect of me either on computer records or in hand written files, to include all e-mail correspondence, held by yourselves. Copies of all correspondence (including previous contracts) by email and Facebook Orange Helpers Copies of all phone conversations between Orange & Myself (audio & transcript) All data relating to my account with yourselves All correspondence relating to me or expressions of interest or intent concerning your appalling treatment of me (a customer of 15 years+) The cheque will be posted today 1st Class Recorded Delivery Update by user Nov 14, 2012 Orange have so far agreed to pay some of my costs but not all - so I have now sent a Subject Data Access Request - they are now yet again trying to wriggle out of doing anything - I am overseas and they are insistent on me sending them a utility bill from the UK and also insistent on me filling out a form (that's illegal Orange - and not a requirement under the Data Protection Act)before they will process my request (again illegal they have 40 days from submission of request & will be late I am sure) APPALLING APPALLING APPALLING Original review posted by user Oct 14, 2012 This company is appalling. A few months ago I was given the opportunity to work overseas and having been a customer of Orange for 14-15 years (on contract) I decided I would keep my number as Pay As You Go (PAYG) for holidays back home etc. On phoning Orange I was advised that I should have given them 8 weeks notice, despite being out of contract as they needed to make a SIM specially with my number on it (Yeah Right) and as I was due to fly in 3 weeks decided I would get my parents to forward the SIM onto me. I was instructed that once I received the SIM (in UAE they knew that's where I was going to be) all I had to do was insert it into my iPhone my old contract would cease and my new SIM would work on my old number PAYG - Easy........... NOT!!!! Firstly that is not how it worked. The SIM arrived via my parents no problem after 8-10 weeks (contract still running and being paid despite not being used) When I tried to insert SIM it would not register, so I looked on line and registered it there - nothing - received messages saying it will take 24hrs to activate, nothing, so I e-mailed customer services - got an e-mail back saying they were having difficulty with their e-mails please ring so I rang Customer Services (150 & Free still on contract) explained that I could not activate SIM via website despite the site saying I could and saying I would receive confirmation (I didn't) Apologised profusely and explained that they would activate my SIM immediately..... Happy Days...... NOT!!!! SIM activated (now PAYG) but NOT MY NUMBER so I tried to contact customer services 150 (Free) couldn't as I was now PAYG. So I rang 450 the number I was advised by Orange to ring (for free - it's not!!!!) to sort out the problem - I rang, was advised that the 'Number Transfer Department' was closed and to ring later - AT COST TO MYSELF - as they could not help - would not provide me an e-mail address or take a message and get them to ring me. So I e-mailed via their website Customer Services - I get an e-mail back - saying customer services is experiencing problems - please ring - AT COST TO MYSELF - so I ring (using all my credit as I do so) to find that the number has already been swapped - I am now not a happy bunny and wish to speak to someone regarding their inability to perform a simple task - cut me off and they now ignore every attempt I make to contact them, so I have now tried 'executive.office@***.co.uk' lets see what happens - ORANGE YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS A CUSTOMER OF 15 YEARS IS DISGUSTING!!!!
