Non-response to problems and then to my request to terminate my account and return the non-working phone

For years my wife and I had had a happy relationship with our Tracfone Kyocera phone which we used as our traveling phone. Otherwise, we only used a landline at home. In December 2020 I inadvertently allowed that service to run out. Being told that I couldn't resuscitate that account, I opted to open a new one using a new phone, an iPhone 7. The new phone arrived and the troubles began. I tried to use our former Tracfone number, but couldn't call out or get calls in. Efforts to solve the problem with Tracfone "Help" resulted only in frustration and then being transferred to what seemed to be a help service affiliated with Tracfone. In communicating with their agents through a text chat line, I kept getting sent back to the Tracfone "Help" robo-system that had already failed to help me or given suggestions that seemed to ignore my issues. Today, at my wife's suggestion I decided to give it one last try, and checked out another TracFone company text-only help line. After several exchanges of phone details, such as SIM numbers, the texting agent "Jeen" promised me that I would be getting a phone call from one of their agents within 15 minutes. "Finally a person?" I wondered. No! When the phone call came, it was another robot, this one saying something on the order of "If this is the person who requested this call, Press 1" I did so, and then heard "If this is the person who requested this call, press 2". I followed this instruction again and was given to understand that somehow I had done the wrong thing and the call was being terminated. If this wasn't bad enough, the phone rang again, and I was put through the same rigmarole with the same result. I've had many similar experiences with badly run tech companies, but this experience takes the cake. User's recommendation: Do not use any TracFone products or services.
