MTD products’ Warranty is nothing!!!

Last year I bought a yard machine’s lawn mower and used it only a few times throughout the year. Earlier this year, I tried to mow it and could not start it. Because it is still under warranty( for a periods of 2 years) , I sent it to the MTD Service Center (Alan's LAWNMOVER & GARDEB Center) for inspection and repairmen. However, when I called this store for the inspection results today, I was told that they would charge more than $ 80 because they would have to replace a part and it was not a warranty item. I really do not understand why, and doubt they really changed this part. At this time, I had to pay, otherwise if I do not want them to repair it, they will deduct $40 deposit. This is really bad experience, met a black shop. The MTD products’ Warranty is garbage!!
