Misleading warranty protection

My mother who is in her 70s switched brands at my recommended from Honda to Nissan thinking she was buying into Nissan quality. When purchasing the new 2019 Qashqai vehicle from Experience Nissan Orillia ON she was sold on the bumper to bumper warranty and also purchased the platinum protection plan, and rust inhibitor control module, they explained that this would protect her car from any rust. The brochures shown at the dealership gives a brief rundown of how you are protected, it does not show what is not covered, that information is hidden in the warranty booklet you receive after you have purchased the vehicle. At 15,000 km and Less than One Year we noticed the muffler system was rotting. Not minor rust spots, but completely rusting. See pics She took it to the dealer and for a month they would not get back to her, she went a second time, and they just told her it was not covered. When we contacted the owner of the dealership and Nissan directly the just sent a picture of the basic warranty that they do not cover exhaust systems. It is unfortunate that they take advantage of customers and at the first sign of a problem offer no help at all. Anyone looking to buy a new Nissan make sure you understand that there are many items with Zero Warranty even if you purchase extra protection. After owning 6 Nissan vehicles from sports cars with performance upgrades, titan trucks and suvs in the past 8 years, all serviced at Nissan it was extremely disappointing to be simply brushed off. Our other Nissan suv lease is coming due, We will be switching to different brands. Very Disappointed Nissan!! User's recommendation: Ask what for a full list what not covered under standard and additional warranties.
