Lost $170 and the new company won’t offer store credit

1

I returned $170 worth of merchandise purchased online in December 2016, and have USPS tracking to show that it was received by the returns processing center on December 20, 2016. I was never credited the money back because -with no warning -the store closed. When I started receiving advertisements from the "new" Limited online store, I called them up and asked for store credit, saying that I could not purchase from them again without receiving my money back. They claimed they are an entirely new organization and cannot do anything. After several rounds, the customer assistant offered me 20% off my next order. Given that they frequently have 40% off and even 80% off sales, this was unacceptable. How can anyone buy from them again given the fact that we lost money and that is not being acknowledged?
