Improper assembly, no replacement part available from U.S. plant
3
When I tried to reverse the door hinge on a 7 bottle NewAir wine fridge, one of the screws on the bottom door axis assembly (i.e. hinge pin) was overtorqued during assembly and the head stripped during the factory directed reversal process. On contacting NewAir, no spare part was available, locally, saying it would have to come from another warehouse (e.g. the manufacturing plant in China). The initial inquiry was made 3/26/21; to date (4/21/21) there has been no satisfactory resolution, although they have offered to replace the entire unit, which creates complications because it is already built in to cabinetry. At this point, I am ready to go to a machine shop to try to resurrect the damaged part or fabricate a new one, since NewAir seems incapable of supporting products when only a minor assembly part is needed. User's recommendation: consider a manufacturer who stocks a complete parts inventory in the U.S.
