I published six books with them in 2009

I was led to believe that this was a UK company. Only when they had my money did it transpire that all was handled by their HQ in the USA by staff in the Philippines. From the day that I found out the sales price of the books I protested that they were far too expensive and would not sell priced with like books that were pounds cheaper. Deaf ears is an understatement. No one was interested in doing anything about it unless I was prepared to purchase more gimmicky sales product from them and still they would not entertain a reduction in sales price. Every time a 'consultant' called me (and this was often) I was prompted to buy, buy, buy more ways to sell my books. I was even told that my books had been chosen to be made into a movie, but for a price. I am now also subject to the USA income tax regime or would be if they sent me any royalties, so I will pay 30% of earnings to the USA and what is left is subject to UK tax. Not a lot left in the pot for the poor author. User's recommendation: One hit wonders. Never again Authorhouse.
