We were trying to buy a HUD house. The report from HUD said the electrical and the roof were good. Upon having it inspected, the entire electrical system needed replaced. It was wired wrong and without a permit. The roof needed $7000 in repair. We backed out of the purchase, but HUD would not refund our $1000 earnest money. How many more $1000's will they get from this property by lying to the consumer? There is no justice with regard to the government. Any citizen cheating consumers would be prosecuted, but HUD is above the law. Isn't there any place to take this grievance?
