How many mistakes can happen?

Update by user Aug 19, 2020 After sending executives on LinkedIn messages I received an email from a manager at their HQ. They processed my return immediately and gave me $100 gift card. Shouldn’t have to go to those lengths to speak with an actual person and not an over seas call center. Original review posted by user Jul 20, 2020 Want to know how bad a single transaction can be fd up? Keep reading. All I wanted was a desk. I went to Office Depot in Colonie, NY about 2pm on Thursday, July 2nd. I walked around the empty store and found my way to the desk area. I needed a new desk quickly for my expanding office as I just hired a new employee. 20 minutes later someone finally came over and asked if I needed help- YES! I pointed out a few options I was interested in and she wrote down #s and went in the back to look. Nothing was available. Ok, I picked in total 6 desks and my least favorite was in stock. I asked if I could purchase the floor model and was told no.. ok? I was walked over to a computer to order a desk for delivery which I could do on my own, on my phone much quicker. I left, annoyed, but whatever. I placed an order Sunday, July 5th and it was a little cheaper than the price in the store. I received a phone call Tuesday, 14th that it would be arriving Wednesday early afternoon and I would need to be at the office to sign. No problem! Waited 4pm I had to leave but I asked my employee to stay. We close at 5 and at 7 I told her to leave. No call, no desk and I paid my employee over time for this. I called the useless customer service line multiple times. Finally the driver called me Friday, 4:34pm to tell me he could be there before 8pm. NO WAY. Unacceptable. Monday comes and the delivery truck pulls up. The item delivered is a bookshelf. I ordered an L desk with hutch. The driver wont take it back and I spent 2 hours on hold and talking to customer service reps who were pleasant enough but clearly English isnt their first language. I was told the bookshelf can be picked up next Monday and once picked up I can get a refund for the desk I ordered. Or I can reorder and get the desk in around 12 days. Now Im big mad! You messed up the shipping, you messed up the item and now I need to wait for you to pick up this item 7 days then an additional 10 days until I get my few hundred dollar refund? I have now spent hours trying to get this resolved. As a business owner I will NEVER recommend or use Office Depot again. I will gladly tell everyone I know my opinion and share this review to every platform possible. No effort has been made by a realistic human to make this right. I am currently on hold writing this and have been on hold the whole time while typing this essay. Do yourself a favor and just dont order from them. Ever. User's recommendation: Run the other way. Don’t waste your time.
