To Whom It May Concern, Coming back to home in Glen Oaks, NY, after a few months in CA, I am horrified at the lack of COVID protections at the Glen Oaks, Key Food Store. Shopping carts are not being wiped down after each use and the in store shopping baskets are not being wiped down and disinfected either. In addition, there are no hand wipes in the store for customers to wipe down the baskets and shopping carts. This clearly puts your customers at high risk for infections from someone who may be infected. ALL stores in CA have an attendant at the shopping cart corral spraying and wiping down each cart, after each use. Shopping carts are only put back in the corral after they are disinfected. This includes all Grocery Stores, as well as all Walmart, Target & Costco Stores. In addition, all hand baskets in the stores are pulled from the registers and sprayed and wiped down after each use. This should be the standard protocol at ALL stores. The Key Food Deli is a huge mess and a health hazard – moat of the food looks spoiled. The deli clerk has no knowledge of sanitary food handling practices & does not change his gloves after each customer. He wipes things down with dirty rags and then uses the same gloves to handle food. His mask is half on, half off with him breathing on all the food. I suspect these practices are all in violation of the health department codes of safe practices. The roast chickens are being sold after sitting in the heaters for an entire day. This is clearly in violation of the health code standards. Other food sitting in the pre-made food refrigerators have expired dates on them. I have photos to share of the disgusting food being sold from the Deli Dept. I do hope that someone with some level of responsibility will looking into this store to make it safer for everyone to shop there. It is no wonder that most of our residents travel to the Shop Rite and the Stop and Shop. Cleanliness & health wise, they are 500% ahead of the Key Food Stores. Shopping in the Glen Oaks Key Food Store is comparable to shopping in a 3rd world country. The Employees DO NOT CARE about anything in this store. I have brought up these concerns to employees and they just shrug their shoulders and give a blank stare. Hopefully, something will be done sooner than later to rectify the dismal situation, before the NYC Health Department has to be notified. Food is expired and spoiled. Roasted Chickens Sit Out From Morning to Evening & Then They Try & Sell Them At A Discount Before Closing. Same With All The Hot Deli Food. Most Is Burnt Beyond Edible & They Still Try & Sell The Food. Deli Salads & Food Are Often Spoiled. No Hand Wipes In The Store & The Shopping Carts & Hand Held Baskets Are Never Cleaned.
