Southern Avenue, Mesa, AZ 85210 Contracted with UM for One 16x8x10 UM environment sealed POD Container. Transport Denver, CO to Mesa, AZ. Multi month storage inside a climate controlled secure warehouse facility at AAction Movers in Mesa, AZ. Buehler Moving & Storage picked up the POD container from the Denver home address on May 5, 2016 and transported it to Buehler Moving & Storage in Denver, CO. Buehler Moving & Storage transported the POD container to the UM affiliate AAction Movers of Mesa Arizona during May UM was paid for nine months (May-Jan) of inside climate controlled secure container storage at the UM affiliate AAction Movers facility in Mesa, Arizona AAction Movers and United Van Lines driver unpacked the POD, inventoried, repacked items on moving trailer, and transported items from Mesa, Arizona to La Plata, MD This review is for the UM storage & moving container services and UM affiliates. The review for United Van Lines is separate. New and used heavy duty boxes were used to pack all items. Packing best practices and standards were followed. Fully labeled boxes with warnings, heavy duty sealed plastic containers, sixteen furniture blankets, two large reams plastic wrap, two large reams bubble wrap, floor mats, ten 1000 lb rated cargo straps, ten bungie cords, twenty five box cargo straps, two pad locks. Total weight 3,600 lbs. I personally supervised and reviewed packing of POD container done by You Move Me of Denver, CO (POD container packing specialists). POD container was packed tightly and contents cross strapped at 4 foot intervals and at ends. Extra materials were used between items to prevent rubbing or collisions. The packing job was done properly and professionally. After a visit on December 1, 2016 to UM affiliate AAction Movers of Mesa location and inspection of items inside POD, it was obvious that the POD container had been handled roughly. Well secured items had shifted violently, and were damaged. Many boxes were crushed. However, the full extent of the damages could not be assessed at that time. In addition, after this inspection it was determined the container was stored outside, not inside a climate controlled environment as promised during the storage period. It was apparent from the accumulation of dirt and debris around the POD bottom base and inside of container it had been outside a long time along with many other containers. After unpacking in January and February 2017, it was discovered many boxes and items inside them had damage from water, heat, dirt, dust, the environment, and strong odors from being outside. Many items inside boxes in the POD suffered damage. A separate damage report will be submitted. I pad locked the container after my visit. Therefore, I paid nine months for climate controlled, secure, indoors warehouse storage, but did not receive that at all. Photographs taken. I contacted UM several times during the storage period to confirm the POD was stored inside where promised and billed for. When questioning the AAction Movers UM affiliated operator on December 1, 2016, he stated it was outside a few days so it could be inspected. He also admitted the container was leaking water inside and caused damage to some items. When asked how it could have gotten wet inside, he stated it was condensation from an A/C units inside the storage facilities. He promised to put the container back inside that same day. That did not happen. The pickup day scheduled for December 2, 2016 was delayed and the container remained outside for several more weeks. On the actual pickup and transfer day to United Van Lines, no one called me. The UM affiliate in Mesa Arizona admitted to cutting off the locks without permission. We had agreed to exchange unlock information to correctly remove the locks. There was no reason to do that without coordination. No one followed up before deciding to cut off the locks. Upon receipt and inspection of items at the final destination, it was apparent some one from AAction Movers Mesa location had opened or attempted to open several pre-packed items. For example, a plastic wrapped fire security safe had pry marks and missing paint where someone from UM unsuccessfully attempted to open the safe. The POD was pad locked from the time it left my home in Denver until AAction Movers cut-off the locks. UM and it’s affiliates did not fulfill their contractual obligations, attempted to cover up with fabricated information, attempted to and did commit criminal acts, and therefore UM is responsible for the damages to my property and the return of all amounts and fees paid. UM refunded the January storage fee. With such dishonesty, carelessness, and intentional cheating, I cannot recommend this service until UM admits the issue exists, corrects it, and compensates me.
