Faulty dress

I bought a James Lakeland black textured tiered shirt dress in January for £72. It was bought for a funeral which I could not attend due to Covid restrictions so was put away. On the 28th April wore it for the first time and discovered that the front of the dress has a 4cm difference in length where it buttons up. I contacted JLL Online. James Lakeland agreed the dress was not of their usually high standards and said they would give me a full refund. Now they are saying because I bought the dress from Debenhams, you have to give me the refund. If you provide an email address I can send a copy of the email correspondence.
