Factual account of events

Let’s just face that today you don’t get a whole lot of quality in what you buy. My finance and I purchased living room furniture: Couch & Loveseat, coffee & two end tables, and Bedroom Furniture: Queen Size bed, frame and night stands. For a grand total of $ 3,500.00 We had just purchased our first house and were very excited about furnishing it. We chose to go to Bruce the Bed King because we knew their sales staff is not commission driven. I had made a small purchase from them the summer prior and had a very pleasant experience. First issue... late delivery it was about 3 to 4 weeks late. Good thing we had made provisions to have a bed to sleep on in the meantime. Second issue's... upon delivery the two end tables were damaged and we received to different sets of pillows. I didn’t want the pillows in the first place but they were adamant in the store we were going to get pillows we had no choice. Apparently you get 4 pillows 2 for the couch and 2 for the loveseat. We received 2 of the pattern we picked and 2 of what we think are the standard, if you don't pick a different pattern. I called and spoke with Robert. I explained about the tables and pillows. Robert told me they would need to order another set of tables as well as pillows. So I told him I would come and pick up the new tables and pillows and at the same time would bring the wrong pillows back. Keep in mind we live in West Milford NJ... A few weeks later the call came in that the tables had arrived. I went to pick them up and return the pillows. One of their whse staff members and I checked the table tops out and they were fine. Their staff member sort of but not really helped me put the tables in the car. The order for the replacement pillows had never been placed. I left the pillows we did not want and asked Robert to please mail them as I did not want to drive back to Hackensack NJ, Robert agreed. I had even made a comment about buying more furniture from them. When I got the tables home and went to put them together I realized there were only 4 legs and they were coffee table legs not end table legs. I called Robert again…! I told him this is just getting ridiculous. The soonest they could send someone out with the legs we about a week out. FYI: they outsource their deliveries to independent individuals not BBK employees. The pillows never showed up on the last call they claimed they mailed them USPS they never offered up a tracking number and they acted surprised. Now our bed frame has cracked with the way they handled the pillows we are not looking forward to how they will handle this issue. We bought our dinning room table at Raymore and Flanigan I wish we had gone there in the first place. Val in West Milford NJ
