On 4/6/2021, my wife & I tried to have a meal at Olive Garden, South Burlington, Vermont. I do not have a cell phone but was expected to have a cell phone to gain entry. Finally another person came and said that the Hand Held buzzers are working so they gave me one & said the wait would be twenty minutes and my wife & I were expected to go wait for twenty minutes in the parking lot which was the distance where these devices worked. So we went outside & sat on the cold iron park benches to wait our twently minutes. After about 10 minutes my wife left to go sit in the car since she was cold. About two minutes later since I too was cold I went back inside to wait since there were no other customers inside only wait staff standing around. I was told to wait outside due to CDC guidelines even though I explained that I had a CDC Vaccination card since I have had both Moderna Vaccinations & the two week wait time after the last vaccination. I was wearing a Mask & I was more than 6 feet from anyone. The wait staff would not let us wait inside & be warm we had to wait outside. This is a total non welcoming restaurent. You and your wife want to have a nice dinner & there is no waiting area that is heated and welcoming to a customer. Ugh !!! Yes there is COVID & both my wife & I are in our 70's & 80's and sitting outside in the cold on a cold metal bench which is insulting to a customer. An empty lobby that is heated with only two wait staff would have worked at least until some other customer arrived. Or Olive Garden during these COVID times could have a tent put up outside the entry way an install two large propane heaters so waiting customers feel somewhat welcomed. No just the standard wait staff non-thinking answer to get out & wait in the cold parking lot. No Thanks... so because Olive Garden was not welcoming to us we left and were non welcoming to Olive Garden and ate elsewhere we were welcoming & warm..Most likely will not return to a non welcoming restaurent.
