DON’T USE HOMEAWAY
Booked property #463**** in Garden Grove, California. Shortly after leaving, I receive an email requesting $250 US for a cracked window. I immediately respond saying the window was one of many broken items in the house. So the owner just keeps that portion of our damage deposit. Contacted HomeAway for assistance and they state they will investigate. After many phone calls to them, they say they rule in favor of the owner, saying they had received "documentation". When asked what the documentation was, they said they could not disclose that information. It is evident there was no investigation, and there is no customer service for the traveler. Of course HomeAway gets a commission every time these properties are booked, so they rule in their favor. Also, I have been told I won't be able to submit a review either. Apparently no properties booked through their Canadian website can be reviewed. How convenient. Even if I could have reviewed, you can't discuss a refund that has been falsely kept, as this "would not be favorable for the community". I will never use HomeAway or any of it's affiliates in the future.
