Don’t be fooled by their low rates
1
They worked really hard in the beginning to get me as a customer, but once I dropped my other company and said I had insurance with them, everything changed. They sent me so many papers to fill out, it looked like I was getting a home loan. They also sent out an inspector to look around the outside of my house. Later, I'm told if I didn't get rid of my trampoline (which I did disclose to them previously over the phone) and pellet stove, fix the soffit on one corner of my house and fix some peeling paint around a window they were going to drop me. I was told to take photos of these items once they were fixed. It took me awhile to get these things fixed, like maybe about a month, but I did get it done and got the photos sent. At this point, they had already cancelled my insurance. They then sent me an e-mail about the items that were fixed that I had to electronically sign and send back to get my insurance back. I couldn't find the e-mail to send back and I didn't realize they had a very short window of time to get it sent back. It took me about 2 weeks to get it sent back at which point they denied me. In short, I feel that they should have inspected my home first, before they told me I had insurance with them and had me drop my other insurance. They also should have communicated better that I had a short window of time to get this e-mail returned to them. I think they treat people like they are doing you a huge favor for insuring them, while my previous company (State Farm) treated me like I was doing them a favor for choosing them. I just wanted people to know how you can expect to be treated if you choose Electric Insurance. Don't be fooled by their low rates. They will raise them over time. I had insurance with them years ago and this is what they did before. I only thought I would try them again because I plan on selling my home soon anyway, and thought I could save some money for awhile.
