Did not get a refund on a day not used

I rented a car through Hotel.com with my hotel reservation. I rented for two days. My husband drove to my location unexpected. I took the car back the next day. I had expected to only pay for one day. When I returned from my trip, i saw that the full amount was charged. I called to see when the credit would be applied. I was told that if the vehicle is returned early, you will not get a refund. I was shocked. However; on the rental agreement if you keep the vehicle for over the time you will be charged $10.00an hour This is definitely not American. I have rented vehicles for over 30 years and this is the first. So this is a big lesson learned per the d User's recommendation: DON"T rent from ECONOMY car rental.
