Delayed credit for canceled trip

1

After a round trip vacation to Rome was canceled in September 2020 due to COVID I was given credit with AARP/American Airlines for the amount paid for this trip. My wife and I are using part of this credit for a domestic trip in August 2021. Later when I tried to book another domestic flight AARP Travel they said that the remaining credit had been miscoded and was no longer shown as available. That was 3 ago. After many more phone calls and hours of "On Hold" I am told to be patient and that the case is being reviewed. AARP Travel will get hold of you eventually. Meanwhile I want to book a flight using my credits. weeks ago User's recommendation: If you can actually talk to someone, they are pleasant - but they are obviously understaffed and cannot answer your questions.
