Credit Card charges posted one year after and no heads-up from the Econo Lodge

Econo Lodge posted a charge of $109 to our credit card a year after we allegedly stayed at the motel. Evidently there was a "system failure" and the charges were approved but never posted. Econo Lodge did not forewarn any of its customers that a belated charge was forthcoming, which would have been easy to do via email or a letter. We cancelled our credit card and spent a lot of time on the phone with our credit card company trying to figure out what happened. Econo Lodge did a very poor PR job for a mistake it caused, creating unnecessary problems for its customers. User's recommendation: Don't stay at an Econo Lodge.
