Consumer Beware

Original review updated by user Feb 24, 2021 This business is a scam. First, the advertising video shows a Jewish woman who says she is speaking from Jerusalem. At the end of the video, she invites you to join her in Jerusalem to learn Hebrew. When you sign up to take a course, review the cancellation policy very closely. You are not scheduled for your first class until the time has elapsed for you to get a refund. I attended the first class that was being taught by an American man who had no idea how to use the technology. He had no enthusiasm at all. In the course of an hour, we learned four consonants. At that rate, it would take six weeks just to learn the consonants, and not even start on verbs, final forms, syllables, etc. It was a disaster and they would not refund me any of my money. I found a personal tutor on Preply that charges $16.00 an hour. In the first lesson we covered all the consonants, vowels and final forms. In the next hour we coved syllables, the use of the dagesh and tsere. I was reading Hebrew text at the end of the lesson. The Israel Insititue of Biblical Studies is nothing more than a means of taking money from people. Unless you have money to burn and you can only remember four letters in one week, this is not the place for you to learn Biblical Hebrew. BTW--you are not allowed to post a negative review on the actual website--everything has to be glowing. User's recommendation: Find a personal tutor--it will cost less and be tailored to your learning needs.
