Check declined/cannot speak to human/have to wait 10 days for a report to give reasons

I tried to purchase pet supplies at Petsmart and my check was declined. I have NEVER written a bad check and have plenty of funds available. Contacted my bank and they said there was no reason on their end for my check to be declined. Contacted Certegy and cannot speak to anyone and have to wait for 10 days to get a report that is supposed to give me answers. I am doubtful this report will provide any answers. How do I clear this up so I do not have this issue when my credit card decides not to work? User's recommendation: Complain against this check verification company.
