Charges and false advertising

I am in N. Ireland with my terminally ill father. I had booked a return flight to the US with esteems as it advertised free changes, my father deteriorated and was in hospital at the time of my flight. Between me, my sister and my cousin we phoned to try and change my flights at least 12 times. There were no available flights for me to change to to begin with and we asked about dates up to almost a year in advance. I have lost the money for the flight due to there being no flights available to change to yet there are on the website for new customers. This is false advertising and I am prepared to take this further especially as my sister has been charged a further £59.99 for Prime which was cancelled over the phone over a month ago.
