Can’t change service plan until contract expires.

I signed up for RingCentral's service in order to accomplish a distributed virtual office phone system. We used this for several years until the need for the remote locations ended. When I tried to cancel an extension, I was told I could not make any changes until the end of the contract which was 8 months away. Soon after that, I ended up using my own internal phone system and tried to cancel all of my lines with RingCentral. Once again I was given the response that nothing could be done until 30 days until my yearly contract renewal. The previous year's contract renewal was automatic with no communication from RingCentral.
