Califonia scent destroyed part of my car’s air vent.

My hubby & I chose out a scent (the blue liquid clip on scent) and stuck it to our middle AC vent. However the next day we switc3h it to the other side. To our horror we see that it has melted the part right below our AC vent. Some liquid must have come out from. It really has caused such an eyesore and worry about even other brands... Will post pics, didn't take any yet.
