Bogus recommendation for used car appraisal

I was looking to trade in my van and get another car. So I googled and found APA's website. In APA's website I found information about the used car appraisal service at AutoShowPlace which APA recommends. So I thought of giving it a try on this service which was for only $20 for non-APA members. Jesse Singh, an auto consultant at Auto Show Place inspected and drove my 2009 Pontiac Montana SV6 (67000 KMS only) upon arrival and took $20 and did not provide me any receipt on Thursday Sept 19th. He promised me that they will give me the Actual Cash Value of the vehicle within 24 hours or by Monday. After repeated calls on Friday and on Monday I got the actual cash value of the my car on Monday at 1:40pm as $4500. Also I did not receive anything writing too. So how I would I believe this service and what is the credibility of this service which APA recommends. I checked with CAA for the red book value of my van and they quoted $9100. On Saturday Cooksville Dodge a dealer at Mississauga offered me $9000 for my van and I accepted it. In Auto Show Place's website says that if I get more that 15% of the appraisal value which Auto Show Place has quoted for they would refund the appraisal fee. I felt like wasted my money and most importantly my time in taking APA's bogus recommendation and going for this good for nothing appraisal service.
