ATM debit card is stuck in atm machine

I was going to deposit some money into my account. I put my card into the atm slot and the screen never ask for my pin and did never go to the main screen. It didnt give me option to retrieve my card. Therefore, my card got stuck in the slot and I wasnt able to deposit my money. User's recommendation: For atm machine to have an option of retrieving their card back.
