Astro IPTV manipulative way of extending contract

I called Astro Customer Service sometime February to cancel Astro Services as the program quality have deteriorated and there was not much choice. We intended to switch to Netflix - while maintaining the Maxis broadband service. The customer service personnel advised that I need not cancel and can continue to go on with the Maxis broadband service without the purchased Astro packages. She also offered some free channels, mostly local. I agreed. Today (May 12th), I was getting ready to move to a new location. We called Astro to check for the process to relocate and switch the owner to my wife's name, as well as enhance the Maxis to a fibre broadband (unlimited data). To my shock, the Astro CSP told me that i was on a contract and cannot switch ownership. I was shocked. I had wanted to terminate the service in Feb, but the CSP has evidently added a 2 year contract for "offering free Astro channels "which i did not request. This is a very underhanded, manipulative way of Astro catching the customers unawares. I this times of Covid and MCOs, we depend heavily on the quality of home broadband services. Astro did not provide any consideration of value ( I wanted to cancel the service ) by providing these cheap channels and bind me to a 2 year contract.
