Alone used to be a survival show where one could watch interesting people try to survive in interesting ways while seeing a bit about who they are, their motivations and the mental/emotional toll. It has devolved to watching people cry into a camera for 90% of the episode and them trying to survive for 10%. Focus more on how they are trying to survive. In season 8, 1/2 of the contestants be are fishing and the audience doesn't know if they found bait, brought a lure, or made a lure. If they made a lure, SHOW IT! The ingenuity is a large part of the appeal that has been lost. If I wanted to watch people cry non-stop into a camera, I'd watch Dr Phil, not Alone.
