A faulty Sharp fridge freezer and Currys doing nothing about it.
1
On the 21st June 21 I ordered a Sharp fridge freezer which was delivered on the 24th June. After waiting the recommended 4 hours to plug it in the Sharp fridge freezer made this almighty loud drilling sound and has continued to do so every 1 to 2 hours since. So first thing last Monday I contacted Currys and after being passed round from pillar to post I was put at the start of the queue again. So I emailed them and was told I needed to record this loud noise. So I had to leave my phone at the fridge till this noise happened. It happened just over 57 minutes in from when I started recording on my phone. So I sent this to Moira from Currys who asked for it. She told me once I had it recorded she will order me a new fridge freezer at a press of a button. Moira said the noise from the fridge freezer was "frightening" but Sharp are saying they can hear only a rattle?! The noise was so loud I had to pull the phone away from my ear quickly and I had buzzer sounds in my ear for 5 minutes. So how Sharp can say they heard only a rattle I don't know. The nosie is so loud it makes the whole kitchen floor vibrant. Of course it suits them to not to hear the noise because they just want to "fix" the problem but why should I pay £400 for a brand new fridge freezer for a repaired/reconditioned one? That's not how it works if it's unfit for purpose which it is then I'm allowed a refund or replacement by law. So Currys are saying they can't do anything without a code from Sharp but my contract is with Curry's not Sharp and sharp want to send out an engineer next Monday but I don't want it fixed I want it replaced which is my right under law. Currys don't have in-stock the same fridge freezer which is good because I wouldn't go for the same one again anyway so have chosen a Bosch fridge freezer but Currys won't replace the dodgy fridge freezer till they get a code. So I've spoken to my bank and cancelled my direct debit to Currys and I've ordered the new Bosch fridge freezer I wanted from John Lewis delivered this Friday. I've told both Currys and Sharp and told them there faulty machine will be out the front for them to pick up. I would've expected alot more from Currys and Sharp but what absolutel cowboys trying to fob me off with a faulty machine that could catch fire anytime because this noise isn't happening for no reason. I'm physically disabled and I'm a carer to an older chap with learning disabilities and later stages of vascular dementia and I need appliances I can trust and that are reliable not faulty brand new machines where cowboy suppliers won't do anything to sort out the problem. I don't and can't have this machine in my home for a second longer than it needs to be because of the risks associated with it and immmot waiting another week for an engineer out come out. What happens when the engineer comes out? I don't want a repaired fridge freezer I want a new one hence me buying a new one. Currys you're complete jokes and you've lost a life long customer. I hope this does go to court I'd love to hear what a judge would think about all this and how you treat your customers, especially the vulnerable ones. Come and pick up your faulty appliance User's recommendation: Don't buy from Currys if you want good and honest customer service.
